In Memory of Ranger

RIP Precious Ranger... As beautiful as you were on the outside, you were a thousand times more beautiful on the inside. Before you came to Proud Spirit you endured unspeakable abuse from the evil ones who thought they owned you. You couldn't swish your tail or clamp it against your body because the evil ones broke it and "set" it aloft so it was always "up" for the show ring. As a result of their sick arrogance, you were tormented by flies.  Your feet were destroyed by the damaging shoes and you always walked with a slight limp.  But then, in a lucky twist of fate, the evil ones abandoned you.  And you came to Proud Spirit.  It was a day for US to rejoice.  For 10 years you were the calming influence over the entire herd.  You took orphaned babies under your wing; you soothed the new-comers and helped them relax, and in your infinite horsey wisdom you somehow demanded that the herd accept outsiders and allow them into the fold.  You had the highly earned respect of every single horse: No one messed with you . . . everyone loved you.  Including us.  More than you will ever know.  We will never forget you.  100's of horses have found peace at Proud Spirit, but you were one of the very rare and exceptional horses who touched our hearts in ways we'll never be able to repay.  You didn't need us . . . we needed you.  I love you precious boy . . . and I'll never forget you.  Run free. . . !
